Gatra Priyandita joined the Department of Political and Social Change as a PhD candidate in 2016. Supervised by Professor Robert Cribb, his doctoral research examines how foreign policy decisions in Indonesia are crafted and executed, specifically with regards to post-1990 relations between Indonesia and China. Prior to his PhD candidacy, he has worked as a research intern at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies and a research assistant at the Institute of Southeast Asia at Jinan University. He received a Bachelor of Asia-Pacific Security (Honours) from the ANU in 2014. Gatra’s primary research interests are in foreign policy analysis, public diplomacy, middle power diplomacy, and international relations in the Indo-Pacific.
