Umi Najikhah Fikriyati joined the Department of Political and Social Change as a visiting fellow through the Partnership in Islamic Education Scheme (PIES). Before coming to ANU, she was a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Social and Political Science at Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta, where she also received her Masters. The topic of her PhD thesis is Salafi Women’s Strategy as the Head of the Family. Other than her PhD thesis, she is also interested in research on terrorism and radicalism in Indonesia. Currently she is a lecturer in the Islamic Higher Education Academy in Blambangan, Banyuwangi, Indonesia.
