This In Brief describes a recent, localised pilot study on the Skouw border post in Jayapura, Indonesia. The study, undertaken to shed light on the reasons why residents of Indonesia and PNG cross the border, could be the prelude to a larger study in the future. It aims to give information to the public about the border area of Indonesia–PNG in Skouw, Jayapura, and to contribute to the study of transnationalism.
