New Dean for ANU College of Asia and the Pacific

19 September 2016

ANU has appointed Professor Michael Wesley as the new Dean of the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific.

Professor Wesley, one of Australia’s most respected academics in strategic policy and international affairs, is currently Director of the Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs at ANU.

He will replace Professor Veronica Taylor, who will return to the ANU School of Regulation and Global Governance (RegNet).

“Professor Wesley’s career has spanned academia and government,” said ANU Vice-Chancellor Professor Brian Schmidt AC.

“He has built an impressive track record as an entrepreneurial leader and is superbly placed to lead the College into the next period of its history as one of the great centres of Asia-Pacific studies in the world.”

Professor Wesley will take over as Dean from Monday 3 October 2016.

The Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs will begin an international search for a new director in the coming months; during this period, Dr Brendan Taylor, currently Head of the Strategic & Defence Studies Centre, will act as School Director.
