Korean Peninsula in Crisis: What can Australia do?

4 April 2018

The Australian National University, Griffith Asia Institute and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies have collaborated on a program of events in Canberra and Brisbane around the question ‘What should the Australian government be doing in the face of these complex and highly challenging developments?’

To help answer that question, we hosted two of the world’s leading authorities on the Korean Peninsula security situation, Duyeon Kim and Scott Snyder.

We were humbled by the involvement and support of two highly distinguished Australian practitioners, Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Frances Adamson who gave an inspiring welcome keynote, and former Australian Foreign Minister Professor the Hon Gareth Evans AC QC who impressed us with his insights into nuclear disarmament during the conference dinner.

We are immensely grateful for the generous financial support provided for this project by the Australia-Korea Foundation and the ANU Korea Institute.
