ECR/HDR Masterclass

25 x ANU students, government and academics heard from leading practitioners working on gender-based violence prevention, emergency response who lent their time in a Masterclass.

Drawing from experience in women’s and children’s rights advocacy, practice orientated research
Anthony Nolan (IRC), Carol Angir (ActionAid), Elayn Sammon (Independent Expert), Michelle Godwin (CEVAW/ANU), Masumi Yamashina (Tsunagu Network), Jeremy Shusterman (UNICEF) and Nishadh Rego (UNICEF Australia) explored with participants how and why scholarly work matters for transformative interventions in contexts of displacement, climate change, poverty, and other heightened protection needs.

This interactive small group setting afforded feedback, learning and connecting up scholarly work with the practicalities of doing the work “on-the-ground” in a rapidly changing international aid context.
