Harold Crouch was a prominent scholar of Indonesian, Malaysian, and Southeast Asian politics, based for a major part of his career at the University's Department of Political and Social Change, now part of the Coral Bell School of Asia and Pacific Affairs. The author of landmark works such as The Army and Politics in Indonesia (1978) and Government and Society in Malaysia (1996), Harold was an inspiring scholar, teacher, supervisor, and mentor.
