Art Cotterell is a researcher, policy adviser and lawyer. Art joined the School of Regulation and Global Governance at the Australian National University (ANU) in late 2023 as a Research Associate. Prior to joining RegNet, Art was an executive level advisor on regulatory reform with the Australian Government at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, and Department of Finance. Art also previously worked across international and domestic policy and cooperation at IP Australia and in civil society peak bodies. Art’s research interests are on regulating emerging technologies, with a focus on balancing the public good and commercial interests and using technology as a basis for international cooperation. Art is undertaking a PhD on international outer space law and intellectual property law through The University of Adelaide.
