Gao Chunyuan is a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Politics and Social Change at the ANU. He completed a Master of Philosophy in Sociology at Hong Kong Baptist University. His main research interests are in poverty, rural-to-urban migration, social welfare, and social change in contemporary China.
His Ph.D. research investigates The Poverty of China’s Rural-to-Urban Migrants. He was also a team member of the sub-project “Targeting of Social Assistance and Income Verification System” for the World Bank “China Economic Transformation and Institutional Capacity Building Project’ (TCC6) from 2016 to 2018.
