Daryl Morini

Dr Daryl Morini is a Pacific Research Fellow at ANU’s Department of Pacific Affairs. He holds a PhD in international relations from the University of Queensland and is a part-time PhD candidate in philosophy at the University of Newcastle. In 2014, he established the first non-partisan New Caledonian think tank, the Centre pour le Destin Commun, to promote peace and reconciliation. From 2015-16, he held research and advisory positions at the Asia Society Policy Institute in New York and served as a DFAT policy officer from 2017-21. Among other Pacific policy roles, he covered New Caledonian politics in Canberra and on a short-term mission to Australia’s consulate-general in Noumea. He has published on Indo-Pacific security, foreign policy and New Caledonia in outlets including Strategic Studies Quarterly, Security Challenges, The Diplomat and The National Interest.
