Mathias Hammer has been a PhD candidate at Bell school since January 2020. His thesis focuses on political violence in Indonesia during the 1960s. In 2010, during an earlier candidature at ANU for the same topic, he finished field research in Central Java (and Yogyakarta/Jakarta), interviewed over forty historical witnesses and accessed other sources.
