The Coombs Building Refurbishment Project has carefully considered the significant heritage of the building.
An iconic Australian building, the Coombs Building is considered to be of a high heritage ranking. Many of the original construction and design elements of the building contribute to this ranking.
As a result, the College has conducted a number of comprehensive heritage reviews as part of the Project. It has also worked closely with the University’s Heritage Advisor, Amy Jarvis, as well as David Hobbes of Phillip Leeson Architects, the College’s contracted architect. The results of these reviews and consultations have directly influenced plans for the refurbishment and key heritage features including the façade, entrance, tea room and spiral staircases will be preserved and enhanced.
