John Ruthrauff began working on the G20 Summits in 2008. He has organized advocacy on six of the summits and attended four. He began work at InterAction in 2005 and is the Director of International Advocacy with the responsibility for organizing alliances in the US and globally to advocate on the G8 and G20 Summits. He also conducts NGO advocacy training workshops in the US and abroad.  For six years he was Director and then a Senior Policy Analyst at Oxfam America's Washington Advocacy Office.  He is the founder and was the Executive Director of the Center for Democratic Education for five years. The Center assisted local organizations in Central America advocate on the World Bank. He was the Deputy Director of the Washington Office on Latin America, a DC based human rights organization. Prior to WOLA he was the Executive Director of the National Security Archive, a foreign policy documentation and research center.

Prior to 1990 John was a senior aid to a Pennsylvania Senator, a community organizer, and for 15 years the Executive Director of The Philadelphia Foundation, the third largest grant making foundation in Philadelphia. John holds a BA in economics, an MA in sociology, and an MBA.
