The transition currently taking place in the decade-long Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) has become the subject of intense deliberation among the Australian policy community.
Much of this discussion has revolved around the challenges of transitioning from one modality of external assistance to another. Significant as this is, it is also important to consider other important transitions underway in Solomon Islands.
This workshop examines the post-RAMSI transition in light of other significant changes taking place in the archipelago, as well as drawing on relevant international experience. It will do so by bringing together expertise on Solomon Islands' past, present and likely future transitions, and place this in critical conversation with comparative experience from elsewhere.
See Draft Program for further information.
This workshop is hosted by the State, Society & Governance in Melanesia Program, with support from the Australian Government and the Research School of Asia and the Pacific, ANU College of Asia and the Pacific.
