ANU ranked number one in Australia for politics and international studies

The latest world subject rankings have strengthened the ANU position as among the best universities of the world and the top university in Australia.

These rankings include ANU as number 1 in Australia and 8th in the world for Politics and International Studies.

The latest QS World University Subject Rankings found ANU had 15 subjects in the top 25 of the world, and was number one in Australia in 15 disciplines - more than any other Australian university.

The results come after ANU last year was ranked in the world's top 20 universities.

Published annually, the latest QS World University Rankings by subject ranked 42 disciplines across 945 institutions.

Globally, ANU was ranked in the top 10 in four subjects: Archaeology (8), Development Studies (8), Anthropology (7), and Politics and International Studies (8).

ANU was ranked in the top 25 in a further 11 disciplines: English and Literature (22), History (12), Philosophy (20), Agriculture and Forestry (11), Earth and Marine Sciences (12), Environmental Sciences (24), Geography (17), Mathematics (21), Law and Legal Studies (15), Social Policy and Administration (14), and Sociology (16).

In Australia, ANU was placed number one in 15 subjects: Agriculture and Forestry, Anthropology, Archaeology, Development Studies, Earth and Marine Sciences, Economics and Econometrics, Geography, History, Mathematics, Modern Languages, Philosophy, Politics and International Studies, Social Policy and Administration, Sociology, Statistics and Operational Research.
