Mind your language

Up to 30 early career researchers from Pacific Island nations will converge at ANU College of Asia and the Pacific at the end of the month, for this year€™s Pacific Research Colloquium.

The two-week long meeting is aimed at improving research techniques in the region.

Convenor Anthony Regan, from the College's State, Society and Governance in Melanesia program says complications include navigating cultural differences, and bearing in mind multiple languages are spoken across the region.

Commencing on January 28, the first week of the Colloquium will concentrate on different aspects of research methodology.

In the second week, participants from the various countries will present their own papers.
