Originally from France, Jonathan studied cinema at Sorbonne University before coming to Australia to complete a Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies) at UTAS and a Master of Asian and Pacific Studies at the ANU. Jonathan has a broad interest in aesthetics and politics, film theory and history, anthropology, and cultural studies. His research projects included the representation of Pacific cultures in silent American cinema, women filmmakers in early Korean and Japanese cinema, the French New Wave and the Auteur Theory, and the use of the long-take in the films of Japanese filmmaker Kenji Mizoguchi.

Jonathan worked as an Engagement and Impact Officer for the Research School of Social Sciences (RSSS) for two years before starting with DPA in 2023. He has a background in films and visual media, anthropology, communications, research impact, public relations, and has worked extensively in the tertiary education sector in Australia. Jonathan develops and implements research communications strategies for DPA and liaises with internal and external stakeholders (government and policy agencies, regional organisations in the Pacific and other non-for-profit organisations). He supports key projects like the State of the Pacific and the Oceanic Diplomacy Workshop.
