Anouk Ride

PhD

Dr Anouk Ride is a sociologist with an interest in development and peace and conflict in the Pacific Islands region. Current academic roles include Fellow with the Department of Pacific Affairs at Australian National University and Affiliate Senior Fellow with the Solomon Islands National University. She is a member of the Peace Psychology Division 48 of the American Psychological Association and the International Sociological Association.

She has produced 44 journal articles, 4 books and 12 reports, including the first regional report on riots in the Pacific (Ride, 2022). Her most cited work is a book on community resilience in natural disasters (Ride & Bretherton, 2011), and a book chapter on involving participants in data analysis (Ride, 2015). She was awarded the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Research Higher Degree Theses from University of Queensland for her PhD dissertation on narratives of conflict and peace in Solomon Islands (Ride, 2014). She has managed over 20 research projects with government, non-government, Pacific regional institutions and universities in the past, and has used qualitative, quantitative and participatory research to examine peace, conflict and social inclusion issues.
