Chansambath Bong

MA in Security Studies (Kansas State University)

Chansambath Bong is a PhD scholar at the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre (SDSC) under the Australia Awards Scholarships. He is also a research fellow at the Asian Vision Institute (AVI), a think-tank based in Cambodia. Previously, he was a lecturer at the Institute for International Studies and Public Policy (IISPP) at the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP). Sambath holds an MA in Security Studies from Kansas State University where he graduated as a Fulbright scholar. His research interests include Cambodia’s foreign policy and security, and international relations in Southeast Asia. His writings have appeared on East Asia Forum, Fulcrum, The Strategist, and The Diplomat. Sambath’s doctoral research at the SDSC focuses on hedging as a risk management strategy in Cambodia’s foreign policy towards bigger powers.
