Jefferson Ng
Jefferson Ng is a PhD candidate at the Political and Social Change (PSC). Prior to his PhD candidature, Jefferson worked at the Indonesia Programme in the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies in Singapore, where he conducted research on Indonesian politics, foreign policy, and domestic policy developments. He has published two co-authored journal articles examining different political institutions in Indonesia, specifically focused on parliamentary oversight of the military and the phenomenon of independent candidates in regional elections, as well as a policy paper comparing how ASEAN and the EU has responded to the burgeoning technological rivalry between United States and China. He has also written for a wide variety of non-academic platforms, including the South China Morning Post, The New Mandala, East Asia Forum, and The Conversation.
Research Interest
His research at the PSC will focus on the operations of the presidency in Indonesia, with an aim to understanding how the presidency functions as an institution to advise and support the president in policymaking.
