Monty commenced his PhD studies in the Department of Political and Social Change, ANU Coral Bell School of Asia and Pacific Affairs, in February 2023. He is a Sir Roland Wilson Scholar and on leave from the Australian Public Service. He previously studied at the University of Sydney. His dissertation explores contemporary Indonesian strategic policy.
