Four slices of PhD life, from four current candidates in the Coral Bell School
Undertaking a PhD is an opportunity to immerse yourself in a big topic, to produce an extended piece of original research, and to enlarge your thinking in new worlds of theory and practice.
Undertaking a PhD is also a human experience with many worlds of its own.
In this gathering, four PhD candidates in the Coral Bell School will share insights from their unique experiences of life and study.
We’ll hear from one student in each department: International Relations, Pacific Affairs, Political and Social Change, and Strategic and Defence Studies.
Each ten-minute talk will focus on real life discoveries, encounters or surprises that came along as the PhD proceeded; balancing study and life, being motivated by intellectual passions and creating new communities.
Speakers and topics will be revealed closer to the date.
There’ll be time for discussion after the talks.
Anyone who is considering PhD study is welcome to join us – whether you are a current undergraduate or master’s student at the ANU, or a curious member of the wider community.
