Ms Ningning Jiang

Ningning Jiang is a PhD candidate at the Department of Pacific Affairs (DPA). Her research focuses on Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programs and their impact on the construction of citizenship in postcolonial small island states, with a case study on Vanuatu. She is particularly interested in how investment migration policies shape national identity, state sovereignty, and political economy in the Asia-Pacific region.

Prior to joining DPA, Ningning completed her master’s degree in International Relations, specializing in peace and conflict studies. Her graduate research explored citizenship transformation theories and the role of golden passport programs in shaping statehood and governance.

Ningning has a strong interest in postcolonial citizenship studies, global mobility, and migration governance. She actively engages with debates on the political and economic dimensions of citizenship, examining how CBI programs intersect with issues of state authority, governance, and regional stability in the Pacific. Through her research, she aims to contribute to both academic discussions and policy considerations on migration and citizenship in small island states.
