Paul D'Arcy

After graduating in Pacific and African history from Otago University, I studied at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa and worked as an archaeologist and for Television New Zealand, before completing my MA at Otago and PhD at the Australian National University (ANU). I taught at Otago, Victoria University of Wellington and James Cook University in Queensland before joining ANU in 2006. I currently teach and publish on environmental conflict resolution, sustainable development and climate change mitigation in the Asia Pacific Region in the College of Asia and the Pacific’s Department of Pacific Affairs at the ANU.

Research Interest

My current research focuses on Asia Pacific visions of history and sustainable development, and the history of conflict and conflict resolution in the Asia Pacific region, especially conflicts over natural resources and climate change mitigation strategies, with particular reference to the Pacific Ocean.
