Pacific Research Colloquium

PRC 2025

Each year the Department of Pacific Affairs (DPA) at the Australian National University (ANU) brings together early career social science researchers from the Pacific for an intensive workshop series to develop skills for social science research in the Pacific via a program called the Pacific Research Colloquium (PRC). The 2025 PRC is going to be held in Samoa in partnership with The National University of Samoa (NUS) to coincide with the Pacific History Association Conference (PHA) from 24 November to 6 December.

About the PRC

The PRC is a 10-day intensive research course that is offered in person by DPA experts. Ordinarily, the PRC is held in November/December. Participants receive intensive introductory training on research design, methodology, methods and planning which can be credited towards two academic programs at the ANU i.e. the Graduate Certificate of Pacific Development and the Master of Pacific Development

The PRC is part of DPA’s broader commitment to building research capacity in the Pacific. The PRC is funded by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) through the Pacific Research Program.

PRC 2025

We are excited to announce that this year the PRC will be delivered in collaboration with NUS. The program will be a ten-day intensive research training workshop. The first week will be dedicated to the delivery of the Pacific Research Methodologies (PRM) micro-credential and foundational qualitative and quantitative research approaches. In the second week participants will present their Pacific research proposal as part of the PHA conference, hosted by NUS.
